I did not invite you to join Twoo!

Twoo: An awful excuse for a social network! I just want everyone to know that I have not invited you to Twoo! I don't even have a Twoo account. A friend invited me to Twoo and there was a place to check what other friends are members of Twoo by checking via my Gmail account. I did that but I didn't join. Twoo grabbed all of my Gmail contacts, business and personal, friend and foe, and has been spamming them with invitations from me.

I…

Arguing Politics: A no win situation

A few nights ago I found myself discussing taxation with two other people: An Indian and a person who is a dual citizen of France and Switzerland. I noticed something that was very odd during the discussion. Quite often people will agree with your points, the majority of your points regarding small government. Then they reject the whole idea reverting back to counter points that they have already discarded. To me this seems like some kind of odd rubber band effect, almost as if people had…

Wisconsin: The Libertarians are in charge?

I just read this very interesting letter to the editor from someone named Julie Fitzpatrick: Libertarians have infiltrated the Wisconsin Legislature by posing as Republicans

It is difficult to ascertain a position from this…

Can USA Oil reserves save the $US?

I quote from a recent email received:

The  U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only

scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a

revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in

this area of the western 2/3 of  North Dakota , western  South Dakota ,…

Libertarians Abroad: Saigon Renaissance!

I have been contacted about a possible new Libertarians Abroad group which may be forming in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. If you are interested or know anyone who is interested then pass the information along to me and I will put them in direct contact with the organizer in Saigon.

I really like this because I actually started up Libertarians Abroad while I was still living in Vietnam. Our growth…

Happy New Year! What do you plan to do for liberty in 2011?

I am writing this post firstly to wish you all a happy 2011!

I just wanted to know, do any of you have any resolutions that might involve furthering the cause of liberty either where you be or in some other location?  If so, let me hear about it personally or better yet, put it here on this forum!  Others would love to hear what is going on with you!

Also, just to remind you...

You can keep up with what is going on around the world with…

Libertarians in Cape Town?

I will be in Cape Town in late October, 2010. I would like to meet some libertarian minded folks there. If you are out there and wouldn't mind meeting up for dinner, let me know! I am looking forward to catching up. You can reach me through this site.

I travel often and am doing my best to meet up with free thinkers around the world. It makes the experience all the…

Should the Tea Party movement affiliate with a political party?

This is a poignant question that I saw in an online forum recently. They person asking the question focused on whether the Tea Party movement should meld into the Republican Party, form their own party or line up with a third party. I was dismayed at the responses because most of the people responding either said they should go with Republicans or wait and what and "choose between the best two candidates", meaning ostensibly the Republicans and Democrats who caused this train wreck in the…

Why I voted Democrat: Pick your reason!

My cousin’s husband just sent me this. He’s a Republican (of course) and she’s a Democrat. I thought I would share this. In the mean time, being a Libertarian, I am compiling a “Why I voted Republican” list myself……

You may be Taliban if...

1. You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to liquor.

2. You own a $3,000 machine gun and $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can't afford shoes.

3. You have more wives than teeth.

4. You wipe your butt with your bare…

The Libertarians Abroad Badge

My last blog post I introduced you to our various activities on Facebook, Twitter and MeetUp. This week I am going to let those of you who'd like to add a Libertarians Abroad badge to their Facebook profile, e-mail, personal website or other site. Right now we have two services that that you can choose from: Our own Libertarians Abroad site or our Facebook Libertarians Abroad Page. Actually, this is also possible if you have a MeetUp group, so I will go through that as well at the… Continue

Social Media: Follow Us!

Recently I asked several of you how many had twitter accounts so that you could connect your activities on Libertarians Abroad to your Twitter stream. You can actually do this with several other ways as well. You can do this through the "Share" function. I will post more on that later though.

I would like to encourage our members to follow us on other media as well. Right now I will go into three.

If you would…

How many of you have Twitter accounts?

How many of you have Twitter accounts?

The reason that I ask is that on Libertarians Abroad you can connect to your own Twitter and every time you update your profile you have a choice whether that becomes a tweet or not. Also when you are searching through the site you can share the pages on your Twitter account.

All you have to do is open the Twitter account you'd like to connect with and then look at the…

Film Review: Equilibrium (2002)

Equilibrium (2002) is a film that I most highly recommend to friends of liberty. Written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, it portrays a dystopian future under a total State. It stars Christian Bale, and also appearing are Taye Diggs, Emily Watson, Angus MacFedyen, with Sean Bean and Sean Pertwee in cameos. Much of it was filmed in old Berlin and has the creepy feel of…
