Don't the Libertarian slab of candidates seem rather weak this year?

Libertarian Party candidates for top offices usually are full of unknowns but generally known somehow within the party. I am not really seeing that this year. I think it will be harder to excite…Continue

How should the Libertarian Party make a case for Tea Party voters?

I am very concerned that the Republican Party is making a move to fill the leadership void in the Tea Party movement.  The Republicans are part of the equation that gave us the mess we are in. How…Continue

What do you think of the two Ron Paul second place finishes?

Funny how the big news in the New York Times is how Gingrich is going on the offensive in South Carolina and that he and Santorum have a great chance to knock Romney off there.See More

Libertarian Party candidates for top offices usually are full of unknowns but generally known somehow within the party. I am not really seeing that this year. I think it will be harder to excite Libertarians. Personally I think this could be a negative from all the Ron Paul worship. People gave thrown their support behind him and ignored the party and now he's getting an even worse media blackout than before. This is leading people to give up at a time when the iron is actually hot for us.

Gday Gary. Thanks for the add. I am busy trying to work out what's going on. We had a federal election. Not much was clear about it. Not much at all. The one thing that seemed clear beyond all doubt was that the party that was governing (The Labor Party) lost their support and consequently their mandate to govern. Having a hung parliament, the three independents had the ability to form a minority government with either major party, and choose the incumbent. Regardless of what you think of the big two, that seems to me to directly defy the will of the people. I don't think of Australia as a country run by the people, but this has really left me cold. It's not who's in power, so much as the way that the system wiped its feet on the will of the people on the way to the loot.

How are you? How's Bangkok? That's a colourful city! Slightly more political turmoil than here at the moment, no?

Thank you for the welcome. Not too many Libertarians in NJ at all. Very "Blue" state. Spend half my time in Florida, west coast and there are not too many here either, but, with the right kind of education, we are growing in number!!!

I stumbled on your site and am pleased I did. I'm planning a move to spend some substantial time in your neck of the woods and would really appreciate your advice and help. I'm sending you a friend request so maybe we could establish a back channel.
Keep up the good work, and
Cheers and throw a 180 for me

Rockin' and rollin'...we have a record number of candidates running this year, and are now(thanks to a couple generous donors) #1 in fundraising. I've began working for the party about 2 months ago and am really excited about turning our dues-paying members into active members. And then next election season, turning our active members into more local candidates. 2010 is going to be a great year. Austin is flooded with activism and beginning to lead the LIBERTARIAN R3VOLUTION!!! whoot whooot : )

Arguing Politics: A no win situation

Posted on July 10, 2011 at 12:04pm 1 Comment

A few nights ago I found myself discussing taxation with two other people: An Indian and a person who is a dual citizen of France and Switzerland. I noticed something that was very odd during the discussion. Quite often people will agree with your points, the majority of your points regarding small government. Then they reject the whole idea reverting back to counter points that they have already discarded. To me this seems like some kind of odd rubber band effect, almost as if people had…

I have been contacted about a possible new Libertarians Abroad group which may be forming in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. If you are interested or know anyone who is interested then pass the information along to me and I will put them in direct contact with the organizer in Saigon.

I really like this because I actually started up Libertarians Abroad while I was still living in Vietnam. Our growth…

I am writing this post firstly to wish you all a happy 2011!

I just wanted to know, do any of you have any resolutions that might involve furthering the cause of liberty either where you be or in some other location?  If so, let me hear about it personally or better yet, put it here on this forum!  Others would love to hear what is going on with you!

Also, just to remind you...

You can keep up with what is going on around the world with…
